All masonry chimney material, except stone, will suffer accelerated deterioration as a result of prolonged contact with water. Masonry chimneys deteriorate quickly when exposed to the freeze/thaw process, in which moisture that has penetrated the masonry material periodically freezes and expands causing undue stress. A chimney that has deteriorated by constant exposure to the elements can be a potential safety hazard. Weather damaged lining system, flue obstructions and loose masonry material all present a threat to residents. We offer a full range of repairs to stop the freezes/thaw process, —from repairing leaky flashing to re–pointing, masonry repair and chimney rebuilding.

Damaged bricks and/or eroded mortar joints in the firebox is a potential hazard which could be caused by extended periods of heat and moisture due to water entry into the chimney. We remedy this situation by reconstructing or repairing the firebox to provide the thermal protection needed from the fire to surrounding structural area.
Improperly built crowns are another common problem. The crown should provide a downward slope that will direct the water from the flue to the edge of the crown to help prevent erosion of the bricks and mortar in the chimney’s vertical surfaces. If the chimney crown is cracked or poorly constructed—allowing water to penetration the chimney —we’ll build a proper cement crown to help prevent water penetration.
Chimney caps are the most inexpensive preventive measure that a homeowner can employ to prevent water penetration and damage to the chimney. Chimney caps prevent moisture from rain and snow, animals, leaves, and other debris from entering your chimney. Our high–quality stainless steel and copper chimney caps carry a lifetime warranty.
